Taonga is the Maori word for treasure, anything treasured or highly prized. The African meaning is ‘we are thankful”. This is certainly the case for the family who own Taonga and who are based in New Zealand: “This home has a special place in our hearts and is an extension of our family. It is an unusual place where the sounds of the sea drown out the everyday, the ordinary and the tension of our daily lives. It is our sanctuary”. This home can be rented for 8 guests however should you be a bigger group the cottage is also available and can sleep an additional 4 guests.The entire property can sleep 12 guests.
Taonga is a lovely large beach front home in a prime position between Long Beach and Old Kom. The house has a huge amount of charm and is appointed with everything you need for a beach holiday. The large open plan living area scattered with beautiful pieces of art, opens to a covered entertainment deck with a long table that is perfect for lazy lunches and moonlit dinners. The entertainment deck wraps around towards the iconic lighthouse where you can soak up the sea views whilst sitting in the Jacuzzi. The kitchen opens to the protected courtyard where you will find the swimming pool and built in braai area (the cottage opens to the courtyard and pool area too). All 4 bedrooms in the main house are en-suite and you can take the cottage with the house should you need additional space for guests (at an additional cost). The cottage has two bedrooms, both en-suite and can sleep 4 guests. The main en-suite is upstairs – it is very spacious and has it’s own private viewing deck with views over the sea towards Chapman’s Peak as well as towards Old Kom and the lighthouse. What I love about this home besides the beach front position and easy walk to the village and surf spots is the very comfortable layout of the house – it is ideal for a large family with plenty of space for everyone.

(2 night minimum stay) (Peak season rates will apply to Easter weekend and 4 night minimum stay)
Mid-season summer: 14 September – 14 December: R12,500 a night. With the cottage, R14,800 a night.

Peak season summer: 14 December – 14 January: R15,000 a night. With the cottage, R18,000 a night.
(7 night minimum stay and 14 night minimum stay with Christmas and New Year)
